Safety is a daily priority on all of Atlantic Richfield's projects across the globe.

That's why Atlantic Richfield requires that all employees, contractors and subcontractors meet some of the most rigorous health and safety standards in the industry. It's also one of the most critical responsibilities of its project managers. Whether workers are driving vehicles, operating machinery or simply observing work, Atlantic Richfield demands the highest standards of care, attention and performance. Atlantic Richfield expects every member of our team to play a role in making this a safe project and, in turn, has given authority to every single person on site to stop any activity at any time for health or safety concerns. Atlantic Richfield uses the Smith Driving System to train employees and contractors in defensive driving skills. Wellsville EBM Eric Larson has served as a driving training instructor.

At the Wellsville site, Atlantic Richfield employs a safety program developed by URS, a nationally recognized environmental engineering firm, called 4-Sight. The program is designed to encourage workers to take a minute to think through four key safety questions before beginning any work assignment.

4-Sight : Safety Questions

Atlantic Richfield's Environmental Business Manager Eric Larson said, 'As a manager, I like this program because it's simple, it's easy to follow and it really empowers workers to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of their fellow workers. I think it's great for the workplace, but it's just as relevant to all of us as we take on projects around the house. I find myself using it all the time."
