Atlantic Richfield Company, a BP-affiliated company, is in the middle of a multi-year environmental cleanup project at the former Sinclair refinery in Wellsville, New York. There are two goals for this project. The first is to protect the Genesee River, a critical natural, economic and recreational resource for the entire region. The second is to clean up residual petroleum compounds from groundwater beneath the site using a wetland treatment system.
