Protecting the Genesee River and enhancing the natural environment

Atlantic Richfield Company, a BP-affiliated company, is in the middle of a multi-year environmental cleanup project at the former Sinclair refinery in Wellsville, New York. There are two goals for this project. The first is to protect the Genesee River, a critical natural, economic and recreational resource for the entire region. The second is to clean up residual petroleum compounds from groundwater beneath the site using a wetland treatment system. A wetland treatment system is a sustainable, environmentally friendly approach to groundwater cleanup.

As Atlantic Richfield works to wrap up this project in the coming months, it also is working to be a good neighbor in the community, including hiring local workers and contractors, finding local sources for materials, participating in community events and organizations and looking for partnerships to help make a positive impact not just on our site but in the community as a whole. more info››
